Mary Chia is a home-grown beauty and wellness brand with expertise in providing premium facial, weight management and spa services for men and women.
This year, Mary Chia celebrates their 35th Anniversary with a bang by recruiting 35 participants for the Mary Chia 35th Anniversary Slimming Challenge to undergo an intensive 10-week 360° Transformation programme.
Slimming Challenge participants will also stand to win $350 for every kilogram lost. The Biggest Loser wins! 🙂
So I was invited to embark on the 10-week 360° Transformation programme (not as a Slimming Challenge participant) where I need to do 5 treatments repeatedly every week to target the key problem areas and keep the weight off:
- Detoxification – Stimulate lymphatic drainage and slim down the body
- Cardiovascular Stimulation – Increase metabolic rate and help with fat burning
- Targeted Sculpting – Help contour the body to its best shape
- Cellulite treatment – To reduce the appearance of unsightly cellulite
- Water Retention treatments – Reduce puffiness and swollen areas
My Personal Experience with the Mary Chia 360° Transformation Programme
I visit Mary Chia twice a week to complete all 5 treatments and repeat again the next week for 10 consecutive weeks.
But Houston, we have a problem. I realised I have a problem quite a long time ago. I can’t really perspire much even after exercising which is bad as that means I cannot detoxify and remove toxins from my body efficiently.
I remember vividly during my first visit that the consultant told me I need to stay committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle in this 10 weeks because it would be totally pointless if they keep helping me lose fats and I keep piling them back at the same time!
I realised that in slimming, there is no comfortable and relaxing “cold treatment” as only in heat and perspiration do you really burn fats and improve body metabolism.
The only “cold treatment” I experience at Mary Chia is the 20-minute cold wrap treatment to help firm and tone the body to enhance the silhouette.
One of my favourite treatment of this programme is the Intense Weight Vaporiser that simulate a cardiovascular workout. Basically, I lie on a heated vibration bed for 15 min and it increases blood circulation and overall metabolism through the movements.
Research has proven that 15 minutes on this machine is equivalent to 45 minutes of vigorous exercise.
My other favourite treatment is the targeted cellulite treatment with state-of-the-art LPG machine from France. It combine gentle suction and rolling movements on the body (you need to wear a special LPG suit) to target only the hips, abdomen, thighs, buttocks and arms where cellulite is most pronounced.
Although the rolling and suction movements can be uncomfortable and slightly painful at times, I really love the results of the LPG machine that gives me a tighter and svelte figure.
Because with exercise, you cannot exactly pinpoint and target where you wish to lose fats, I am very thankful to Mary Chia for the chance to embark and review this programme. The treatments has greatly improved my water retention and muffin top problems.
December is typically not a good month for slimming because of the many feastings. I went for a two short trips overseas and seriously, it was hard to keep to a diet plan. There was a couple of company dinners/gatherings I could not excuse myself from and that means more feasting.
Thus, I was surprised when I went to Mary Chia and stepped on the weighing scale and found out my weight has remained as before the guilt feast! The regular treatments had help to stimulate and increase my sluggish metabolic rate.
It takes a lot of time and effort to burn even a few calories. Do you know that 1 full hour of intense exercise may only burn 400-500 calories but you can easily eat back 100-1000 calories within a few minutes?
Although my weight didn’t drop a lot (69 to 67 kg), I was happy to lose 4 cm off my problem areas in the tummy and arms and glad that my clothes can fit me better now.
Takeaway: The weighing scale do not always reflect that you had lost weight so ultimately it is your body shape and the amount of lean muscle vs. body fat% that shows your progress.
In fact, I’ll be very sad when the entire programme is over because it has become so part of my weekly routine to visit Mary Chia to manage my weight and problem areas.
