Are you thinking of sporting the Korean hairstyle of your favourite K-Pop idols or creating that natural, tousled perm (for the men too) for an important function or dinner?
The Comb Hair Studio (near Club Street), a Korean style salon, has an international team of hairstylists led by Ms Rina Kil (owner & Creative Director) with over 15 years of experience and had styled for Korean celebrities such as Lee Jin Wook, Akira Kim and Z:EA.
Recently, Ms Rina Kil (on the right) was featured on Sunday Life for sporting an easy-to-do, tousled wet hair look that is all the rage now that even local celebrities like Jeanette Aw, Zoe Tay, Belinda Lee as well as Taiwanese singer, Ella Chen of S.H.E, had sported moist-looking hairstyles on the red carpet. Ms Rina Kil said, “It’s great for those who are lazy. Just apply wax, serum and mousse and run your fingers through your hair.”
When I stepped into The Comb Hair Studio, I was impressed by their efficiency and attentiveness. Customers were given a drink and service menu where they can request for complimentary TWG tea, coffee or orange juice.
The interior of the salon was cozy, minimalist designed and spotlessly clean with no hair on the floor! Like clockwork, I witnessed how the assistants wasted no time to sweep away the hair on the floor diligently. I was very impressed indeed!
I had a consultation with Henry Yu, the Senior Stylist, before commencing my hair treatment and hair cut. Before coming to Singapore, Henry had worked in South Korea for 5 years with Lee Chul Hair Ker Ker and Juno Hair – both being popular chain salons in South Korea!
As I just did hair rebonding few months ago and wish to avoid too much chemical treatment on my hair (though I would very much love to get a hair colour done), I decided to do the 3-step Korean Mucota hair treatment to protect and nourish my hair from within instead of having another chemical treatment. The Korean Mucota hair treatment typically lasts for 3-6 weeks.
I was in very good hands as Henry would explain every step of my hair treatment patiently and would apologise politely whenever he needed to step away to attend to another customer. Even the assistants who helped to wash my hair were polite and professional too. The salon uses John Masters which is a quality organic shampoo and conditioner brand from the United States.
Henry mentioned that their clientele were mostly working professionals as Korean hairstyles focus on being natural and elegant and uses neutral to darker shades although there are plans to venture into louder and bolder colours for the trendy fashionistas.
He also mentioned about the hair manicure (just like nail manicure) which is very popular with K-Pop stars. This hair manicure treatment provides another layer of coating and deep conditioning to the hair to create a lasting lustre and shine to otherwise dull and lifeless hair as well as locking the hair colour in.
Henry was also able to advise me on a suitable hair cut based on my face shape. I had thick and heavy shoulder length hair before the hair cut which was really difficult to manage in this sweltering heat. Henry managed to layer my hair ends to give it more “lift” and help me achieve a lively bob look.
Before the Korean Mucota hair treatment, I had dry and frizzy hair-ends or flyaways, but after the treatment and hair cut, my hair feels luxuriously soft, straight, shiny and smooth. My only wish was that this amazing effect could last forever.
My hair treatment and hair cut is done… Don’t you think that Henry look like a Korean star as well?
Overall, the service at The Comb Hair Studio was professional, warm and attentive. I felt really pampered throughout the 2.5 hours and left the salon feeling fabulous and with great-smelling hair. Loving my hair now! Thank you The Comb Hair Studio! 🙂
