Club Meatballs & The Entertainer Singapore

February 10, 2015

Pimp Your BALLS – At Club Meatballs, you choose the type of ping pong ball sized meatballs you want, add a sauce, followed by a base below them.

Club Meatballs is a furniture showroom-cum-concept cafe, a collaboration between Sarnies and BW Furniture.

It is opened by the same awesome people who brought us the highly popular [email protected] Ayer Street and The [email protected] Road which have amassed a following with their superb food and coffee.

I am happy to share that Club Meatballs, Sarnies and The Lokal are merchants offering the Buy-1-Get-1-Free offer with the Entertainer Singapore.

Read my previous post on 3 Compelling Reasons Why You Should Get The Entertainer 2015 App.

barWe went there on a Tuesday evening and there was already a capacity crowd (mostly expatriates and white collars) at Club Meatballs. I had difficulty looking for the place, until I asked around and found Club Meatballs just right behind Sushi Tei.

Even though the place was bustling with activity, I like the music, great vibes and attentive service of the staff.

inner room The predominantly wooden decor of the establishment also sets you in a relaxing mood. They have a cozy corner at the back where you can hold a private party.

BWTheir furniture is from BW Furniture (also for sale) whose showroom is just right behind Club Meatballs.

Moving on to the highlight of the evening, the food…

kitchenI parked myself next to the kitchen (just kidding) to observe how spick and span things were arranged, after all, the kitchen is the central nervous system of the whole establishment. All dishes are made from scratch painstakingly in their organised kitchen.

Pork SlidersChef Albert was peeking out from the kitchen as I took this photograph. 🙂

pork sliders(Starters) Pulled pork, chilli and purple slaw sliders, $13. The spicy pulled pork was tender and the purple cabbage slaw added a crunch in between bites.

Wagyu beef balls(Starters) Wagyu beef, gorgonzola and onion marmalade sliders, $14. This is Club Meatballs’ signature dish. The power house wagyu beef balls were dense and the savoury gorgonzola cheese melts packs a punch.

Eggs with sausagges
(Starters) Huevos con chorizo (eggs with sausages) – Crushed Omelette with Chorizo and slices of toasted Ciabatta. This is a new dish available on their Chinese New Year brunch menu.
toasted ciabatta
We cut up the omelette and put it on top of the toasted ciabatta. The bread was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The sausages pieces, omelette, spices and chilli eaten with the toasted ciabatta was simply heavenly.
gorgonzola(Starters) Sobrassada and gorgonzola bruschetta, $10.50. Gorgonzola is a veined Italian blue cheese that enjoys the protected geographical status bestowed on it. The sobrassada is a ground pork sausage with paprika, salt and other spices.
This was the most piquant and memorable dish for me. The distinct, pungent taste of the gorgonzola coupled with spiciness of the sobrassada was contrasting and heavy on the palate. Pungent but very interesting, I would say.
unforgettable dish
(Starters) Ricotta, mango, walnuts and honey bruschetta, $9. I think this dish was intentionally served after the Sobrassada and gorgonzola bruschetta to help clear the palate with sweet and tangy notes. The dish taste great even on its own.
rosemary meatballs
(Mains) Wagyu beef and rosemary balls with onion & red wine sauce set on mashed potato, $19.50. The wagyu beef and rosemary balls were firm but a little on the drier side. The bed of mashed potato doused with red wine sauce was flavourful and consistent though.
pork balls(Mains) Iberico pork and fennel with salsa verde & fresh papardelle, $19.50.
Chef Albert
Chef Albert putting in the final touches for the Lemon Meringue.
lemon meringue
(Dessert) Lemon meringue with caramelised pineapple and pistachios, $12. Aesthetically pleasing with sweet, sour and nutty undertones but this dessert just does not work out well for me. I find it too immensely sharp and sour for my liking.
white chocolate
(Dessert) White chocolate cheesecake with almond crumble and berries, $12. This was the best dessert of the day that ended my dinner on a sweet note. The berries blended very well with the white chocolate and crisp almond crumble. I really wish I could have a second serving.
cocktails
The Espresso Martini and Lime Mocktail. I had 2 rounds of the refreshing lime mocktail to accompany the meatballs and delightful dinner.

If you are a meatballs lover and a fan of Sarnies and The Lokal, you simply cannot miss going to Club Meatballs.
