I think I might have just found the best Taiwanese oversized crispy chicken here in Singapore at NEX Serangoon. Fried Chicken Master (炸鷄大師) is a Taiwanese fried chicken brand owned by the Super Qin Group in Taiwan and prides itself in using only fresh chickens (no frozen chicken parts) supplied to their NEX outlet daily.
Fried Chicken Master stands out from the crowd because of their 30-year expertise in selecting only the choicest chicken’s parts, exclusive recipe and quality procedures to produce fried chicken of superior taste and quality.
The grand opening took place in December last year at NEX Serangoon with Fried Chicken Master’s adorable Lion Chef “Master” Mascot. The public response was overwhelming and snaking queues formed with patrons excited to try the famed and delectable fried chicken that has taken Taiwan by storm.
In an effort to create an all-encompassing gastronomic experience for everyone to enjoy, Fried Chicken Master will be proceeding with its halal application soon.
Most people would normally not like to eat the chicken breast because it is dry and tough but that’s not the case at Fried Chicken Master.
Armed with the secret recipe from Taiwan for its marinade and batter, the chicken still retains its juiciness and flavour after being deep-fried in precise-timed soaking and cooking.
I have tried and tasted the Lovely Jimbo (chicken breast), Running Jimbo (chicken thigh) and Flying Jimbo (chicken wings) and find that regardless of the chicken parts being used, the flesh remains juicy and succulent with an outer crispy layer that is so crunchy and addictive.
The batter is thin, yet crunchy and does not make me feel sinful when I eat it. Usually, I will remove the outer crust of breaded chicken cutlets because it’s so thick and oily but not for the fried chicken at Fried Chicken Master which I felt was less oily.
Patrons can paired their Jimbo chicken classics with sides dishes (rice, mashed potatoes, onion rings, crispy French fries) and refreshing drinks (hygienically sealed) to make it a complete meal.
I do not have to wait till Chinese New Year each year to eat the McDonald’s prosperity twister fries anymore because I find that the Crispy French Fries ($2) at Fried Chicken Master tasted similar to that of McDonald’s, except that they are not twister fries.
Their Earl Grey Milk Tea ($2.50) was one of my favourite drinks because it was not too sweet and the Earl Grey tea leaves were very fragrant as they were brewed from Fried Chicken Master’s own tea leaves from Sri Lanka.
The Kamquat & Lemon Juice ($2) was a perfect accompaniment to the fried chicken with its citrusy notes.
We were very satisfied with our fried chicken meal which we requested that they helped us packed the food because we cannot finish the huge portions when we dined in. The fried chicken was still crispy even after 2 hours!
Now I know where to go whenever I have cravings for delicious fried chicken! 🙂
