Celebrate Chinese New Year with Street 50 Restaurant & Bar and BRAND’S

January 26, 2016

I vividly remember consuming BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken religiously whenever I need to sit for examinations as it does make me feel more energetic and relieves stress.

Through a special manufacturing process, the scientists extracted two peptides – Carnosine and ProBeptigen – under carefully regulated temperature and pressure from the chicken to help nourish the brain and the health benefits can be so easily enjoyed in a ready to drink bottle!

Imagine my delight when I saw that Street 50 Restaurant & Bar is partnering with BRAND’S to create the CNY in Essence Buffet Lunch and Hotpot Buffet Dinner this festive season.

Brands essence of chicken Bay HotelI heard that experts from BRAND’S® also came down to lend their advice to Executive Chef Ricky and his team on the paring of dishes and cooking with BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken so that the nutritional value will not be destroyed under heat.

From 5 and 21 February 2016, diners will also stand a chance to win five $200 BRAND’S® Hampers!

There is more good news as Citibank Credit cardholders can also enjoy 50% off for every 2nd diner (adult price only).

EssenceTIAL Yusheng | Regular $38++ (up to 4 pax), Large $68++ (8 to 10 Pax)

Street 50 Restaurant bay hotelThere is no fear of getting raw fish poisoning while you toss the auspicious Low Hei Salad at Street 50 as the EssenceTIAL Yusheng uses Smoked Salmon and a specially made BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken Aspic (jelly cubes made from a meat stock or consommé) and Vinaigrette dressing.

Diners can also savour up to 20 auspicious dishes at the buffet counter and indulge in pan-fried Nian Gao at a live station as well.

Essence of 8 Treasures Platter

Brands essence of chicken Bay HotelI thoroughly enjoyed this appetizing salad which was packed full of delicacies such as pacific clams, prawns, smoked oysters, sea asparagus and black fungus (known to reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol levels), with “Fatt Choy”, roasted pine nuts and Essence of Chicken vinaigrette.

Fortune Chicken with Essence Consommé

Street 50 Restaurant Bay hotelThis dish is a Herbal Chicken steamed with old ginger, chinese wine, dried longan, red dates and Essence of Chicken. The tender chicken is well complemented by the flavourful and nutritious broth, accentuated by the Essence of Chicken. However, some parts of the chicken appear to be under-cooked as I could still see hint of redness in the chicken.

I understand that the dishes could not be cooked in high heat so as not to destroy the nutritional value of the Essence of Chicken, and this could be the reason why the chicken meat was slightly under-cooked that day.

Sixth Happiness Seabass in Essence

Street 50 Restaurant Bay hotelThis is a steamed Seabass with carrot, barley, green zucchini and yellow zucchini pearls, with white fungus and Essence of Chicken. The 4 type of pearls were chewy to bite and added another dimension to the tender fish meat and Essence of Chicken gravy.

Seventh Heaven Crab meat Noodle in Essence Stew

Street 50 Restaurant Bay HotelThe succulent Alaskan claw crab meat is obviously the highlight and star of this dish of Hong Kong Noodle with yellow chives, mushroom and lily bulb in Essence of Chicken Stew.

“CNY IN ESSENCE” Hotpot Buffet Dinner

Brands essence of chicken Bay HotelStreet 50 Restaurant & Bar has specially customized Chinoiserie chic pots in vibrant designs for the “CNY IN ESSENCE” Hotpot Buffet Dinner where every diner can enjoy their own individual hotpot and choose from up to 50 ingredients including healthy greens, enoki mushrooms, red grouper fillet, clams, Canadian scallops, squids, flower crabs, prawns, fresh beef and pork as well as all the usual familiar hotpot favourites.

We had the healthy BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken broth as our hotpot soup base but diners can also choose from either the Imperial Chicken Broth, Siamese Luck Tom Yum Broth and Indonesian Bakso Broth.

Cold Cheng Teng with Sea Coconut & Candy Lotus Roots

Street 50 Restaurant Bay HotelThis is the only dish without any BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken. This ends my buffet dinner at Street 50 Restaurant & Bar on a sweet and refreshing note as the cold Cheng Teng was a breath of fresh air from your usual Cheng Teng with my all-time favourite sea coconut and sweet candied lotus root that was so crunchy to bite.

All in all, I feel that the buffet really offers great value for money with such a wide variety of quality spread and fresh seafood, it is really a steal!

I love celebrating Chinese New Year! My mother was a school teacher and she would celebrate this holiday every single year in her classroom. One year, the class made their own dragon, like the ones they have in the parades in San Francisco. It was incredible!
Everything looks so yummy! This looks like a great place to add to my bucket list.
Thanks for sharing! Gong Hey Fatt Choy!
