Get Merry, Go Mad! The Pecking Order is brought to you by The Merry Men Collective, the same people who launched The Men’s Room, The Mad Men Attic Bar (all conveniently located in the same building) and The Merry Men Kitchen & Bar (Robertson Quay).
Besides being a cafe by day and a bar by night, the establishment’s unique concept lies in the different live bands playing every night, from Mandopop/Cantopop at The Men’s Room (women are welcome too!) to R&B, soul and jazz acts at The Mad Men Attic Bar.
I politely requested for a bespoke mocktail and the friendly mixologist gladly obliged. The service of the staff was attentive and unobtrusive, clearing away the used plates efficiently so that they can serve new dishes. 🙂

Oyster and prawn fritters with avocado crema, $12. The crispy oyster and prawn fritters may not taste special at first bite but when paired with the avocado cream, the effect was simply unexpected and delicious!
Braised lamb ribs, carrot mash and gremolata, $24. I was never a fan of lamb as I dislike the gamey and barnyardy flavour of lamb, however, I was game enough to try this dish and was surprised to find it so tender and not too overwhelming on the palate. The carrot mash and savoury gremolata also complements the lamb.
Grilled Kurobuta pork jowl with honey and soy on a bed of sliced red cabbage, $22. This was also one of my favourite dish as I just cleared the entire plate within minutes! 🙂 The smokiness of the chargrilled kurobuta, coupled with its own intrinsic sweetness and honey, easily makes this a perennial crowd pleaser.
A hanger steak is the tenderest cut of the beef steak highly prized for its flavor and best served rare or medium rare, to avoid toughness. This signature dish is full of flavour but can be tough if not prepared correctly. Usually, I ordered my steak medium as I would feel squeamish if it is too rare but this medium-rare steak with the tangy chimmichurri sauce was so tender, juicy and flavourful that I thoroughly enjoyed this dish very much.
Chocolate and salted egg custard lava cake served with vanilla ice cream, $10. Chocolate lava with a salted egg centre was quite a first for me and I must say I find this creation rather decadent and divine with sweet and savoury notes at the same time.
The Pecking Order was truly yet another quality offering with impeccable food and service found on the Entertainer Singapore app. You simply need to get this app to enjoy your year round buy-1-get-1-free offers and savings.
