Yam’s Kitchen is Singapore first Chinese restaurant that creates signature fish tail dishes by their award winning Chef Kelvin Yam. Since its inauguration in 2011, Yam’s Kitchen has received numerous accolades and good reviews for their innovative Chinese cuisine at affordable prices and has been awarded the Top 100 Singapore Excellence Award.
In celebration of their 8th Anniversary, Yam’s Kitchen is offering $8 weekday signature deals (featuring 5 of Yam’s Kitchen customers’ top favourite dishes) from now till 8 October (see promotional flyer below for more details).
Special Fried Hor Fun in Dual Style
This dish was discovered accidentally when Chef Yam dropped some Hor Fun (flat noodles) into a wok of hot oil and discovered that the fried version actually tasted quite good, hence, he created this special fried Hor Fun dish cooked dual style. It tasted delicious when you eat both Hor Fun together as the fried one adds crunch to the dish.
Special Sakura Tau Foo with Dried Shrimp & Fragrant Shallots
I am really impressed with the knife work and culinary skills of Chef Yam by seeing how the silky tofu was sliced so thinly and evenly throughout. The dried shrimps and fragrant shallots elevated this simple dish and makes it really delightful.
Steamed Fish Tail with Sour Spicy Sauce
The sour spicy sauce tasted like Assam gravy to me just that it wasn’t so spicy. At $8 per dish, you get to savour the full-size dish and not just a sample size. This is such an awesome deal! I love the generous amounts of lady fingers in this dish too!
Signature Salted Egg Fish Skin w/Special Marinated Pork Belly Combination
As the first Chinese restaurant that creates the salted egg fish skin, Yam’s Kitchen salted egg fish skin dish is definitely a must-try and makes an excellent appetizer.
Deep Fried Fish Tail w/Garlic & Diced Chilli
This was one of our favourite dishes as the tender fish meat was cooked till crispy and paired so well with the chopped garlic and chilli to give it a nutty taste.
Other Noteworthy Ala-Carte Dishes
Special Fruit Rojak | $8.80
At $8.80, this dish is a steal as it’s packed full of fruits such as pineapple, guavas, mangos and pears. I thoroughly enjoyed Chef Yam’s rendition of the Chinese rojak.
Curry Fish Head | $24.80 (S), $28.80 (M)
If there is a dish worth coming all the way to the far east for, it has to be the scrumptious Yam’s Kitchen Curry Fish Head. Just do yourself a favour and order more bowls of steam rice to indulge in this comforting dish.
Calling all Salted Egg Lovers! We also had the opportunity to try the Shi Le Po Salted Egg Potato Chips and Fish Skins that are made with all-natural ingredients and are freshly prepared and packed on the same day, without preservatives or artificial flavourings. Do support local products! 🙂
